Important!

The elongation of viscose is lower than that of polyester.
Advantage: after sewing and embroidering the thread is more even, the fabric warps less.

SULKY 40 - Silky soft viscose thread

Colour change of embroidery threads due to chlorine additives in washing.

As always with colour changes, your complaint is due to the use of chlorine additives (bleach) in the washing or a stain remover containing chlorine.

Although SULKY® meets the highest standards in terms of durability, such as resistance to high washing temperatures, light resistance (will not fade) and perspiration resistance, chlorine additives are not permitted. This applies not only to our SULKY®, but also to all machine-made artificial silks on the market. That is why you will find the image of the ban on chlorine additives on all colour cartels for artificial silk machine threads, which means that chlorine additives are prohibited.

All manufacturers strive to improve the chlorine resistance of machine silk. However, there are differences from colour to colour and each colour consists of several dye components. Depending on the random chlorine concentration and temperature, the color change may or may not occur. There are even cases where only one half of the embroidery was discolored but not the other when the chlorine concentration was within the threshold range.

Even if it were possible to dye rayon 100% chlorine-resistant, chlorine will destroy rayon much sooner at high chlorine concentrations than other fibers, such as polyester.

We therefore recommend that you embroider items, such as workwear, that will be exposed to heavy soiling, with chlorine-resistant polyester embroidery threads POLY 40.
